SOMETIMES WHEN I RIDE

Sometimes when I ride
I watch my shadow
Moving to a rhythm with my horse
And realize it’s up to me
To see where it ends up

Sometimes when I ride
I close my eyes
And let my horse carry me away
From all my troubles
To a place where only we exist
And there's nothing else to worry about

Sometimes when I ride
I wonder why
If I can communicate with an animal
So many people in our world
Can't talk to eachother
Sometimes when I ride
I think of the times when I would lay
Out in the sun for hours
Watching horses play like they were free
And it makes me hope that everyone
Has a chance to have fun

Sometimes when I ride
I ride to fast
And when the forceful wind trys
To hold me back
I think of all the young people all over the world
Who rush through their lives
And don't realize what they've run away from

Sometimes when I ride
I think of farmers in small towns
With only their horses for company
And wonder why our world
Is so alone

Sometimes when I ride
I reflect on times when I was a child
I'd lay in bed, unable to sleep
Anticipating the next day I could ride
And it makes me hope that everyone
Has something to look forward to

Sometimes when I ride
I think of young girls so innocent
Who become mothers so early
Forced to live with out a childhood
Then I wish that everyone
Had a childhood they are proud of

Sometimes when I ride
With the peaceful sunset in my view
I think of how lucky I am
As I laugh not to myself
But to anyone that can hear
And I wish that everyone
Could laugh together
